Christ of the Abyss Anchor Pendant

 Our Christ of the Abyss Anchor Pendant was inspired by decades of diving the water of Miami and the Florida Keys. For years we've taken friends and family to Pennekamp Park to visit the numerous protected wrecks and reefs, with the most requested destination for "out of towners" being the Christ Statue at North Dry Rocks. I cannot recall the number of times we've visited the statue but ever since the first time it left an indelible mark and thats was the catalyst for this one of a kind unique creation.

The Christ of the Abyss statue is sometimes referred to as the "Christ of the Deep," as it is meant to represent Jesus as a guiding light in the darkness of the ocean depths. The statue in Key Largo, Florida is located in the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, which is a popular destination for scuba diving and snorkeling. The coordinates for the Christ of the Abyss statue in Key Largo, Florida are approximately 25.1238° N, 80.3252° W. These coordinates indicate the location of the Key Largo Dry Rocks, where the statue is located on the ocean floor at a depth of approximately 25 feet (7.6 meters). It's important to note that these coordinates may not be exact and divers or snorkelers should use caution when navigating the area. To reach the statue, visitors must have scuba diving equipment and the necessary training and certification to dive at that depth. Alternatively, visitors can also view the statue from the surface by taking a glass-bottom boat tour or by snorkeling.

The Christ of the Abyss is also known as Il Cristo degli Abissi in Italian, and it is located off the coast of San Fruttuoso, Italy. The statue was created by Italian sculptor Guido Galletti and placed in the water in 1954. The sculpture is nearly 8 feet tall and weighs approximately 2,500 pounds, the statue was placed underwater to serve as a symbol of peace and protection for all those who venture out to sea.The Christ of the Abyss is positioned at a depth of approximately 50 feet and has become a popular destination for scuba divers, who often leave flowers and other offerings at the base of the sculpture. On August 25, 1965, A nine-foot-tall bronze statue of Christ was lowered into 25 feet of water off the coast of Key Largo, Florida. Known as the Christ of the Abyss, this submerged statue in John Pennekamp State Park was actually the third of its kind cast from the original Italian mold. In 2003 a second statue was placed in the waters off the coast of Key Largo, Florida, in memory of a local scuba diver who lost his life.
